ampersands (2019) was a comprehensive group show specially made to celebrate 40 years of W139 in Amsterdam.
Curated by Esther de Graaf, Nadia Benchagra, Marcel van den Berg and Lih-Lan Wong.
Around 40 artists contributed, all of them artist-initiators at W139 between 2014 - 2019.
Including Sam Samiee, Judith Kisner, Simon Wald-Lasowski, Evelina Rajca, Philip Vermeulen and many others.
Our focus for ampersands was to transform the space of W139 into a visual immersive environment in order to completely experience the abundance and richness of all the artworks.
The walls were specially colored for the exhibition with loam paint in several different colors.
All of the artworks were hanging on special hand made ropes throughout the space.
Most participating artists made new work specially for ampersands.
